가비아 x 아트오브 정기 전시 <시간과 공간의 평면 아래 Where Time and Space Flatten>

<시간과 공간의 평면 아래>는 가비아 사옥 1층에서 이어지는 정기 전시 프로그램 안에 놓인 첫 번째 시리즈로, 김윤환 작가가 전통 회화인 일월오봉도를 현대적으로 재해석한 작품을 소개합니다. 가비아의 정기 전시는 장애에 대한 설명이나 해석을 앞세우기보다, 일상의 공간 속에서 작품이 자연스럽게 놓이고 각자의 시선으로 경험되도록 운영됩니다. 이번 전시는 그러한 전시 운영 방향 위에서, 시간과 공간의 질서를 하나의 평면으로 재구성하는 김윤환 작가의 회화 작업을 통해 전통적 이미지가 동시대의 감각으로 확장되는 방식을 보여줍니다.

작가노트
일월오봉도는 시간을 초월한 그림입니다. 해와 달은 인간의 인식 속에서 시간의 흐름에 따라 드러나지만, 일월오봉도 속에서는 한 화면에 함께 존재합니다. 다섯 개의 풍경은 원근의 질서를 따르지 않고, 서로 다른 공간을 하나의 평면 위에 병치합니다. 일월오봉도에서 시간은 흐르지 않고, 공간은 깊이를 얻습니다. 이 평면 위에서 공간을 넓히고, 우리가 익숙하게 인식해온 세계의 질서를 탐구하고자 합니다. — 김윤환

<Where Time and Space Flatten> is the first series within a regular exhibition program held on the first floor of the Gabia headquarters, presenting Kim Yoon-hwan’s contemporary reinterpretation of Irworobongdo, a traditional Korean painting. Gabia’s regular exhibition program is operated so that artworks are encountered naturally within everyday space, without foregrounding explanations or predefined narratives. Within this framework, this exhibition introduces paintings that reconstruct the order of time and space onto a single pictorial plane, demonstrating how a traditional image can be extended through a contemporary visual language.

Artist’s Note
Irworobongdo is a painting that transcends time. The sun and the moon appear according to the flow of time in human perception, yet within Irworobongdo, they coexist on a single pictorial surface. The five landscapes do not follow linear perspective, but instead place different spaces side by side on one plane. In Irworobongdo, time does not flow, and space gains depth. Upon this plane, I seek to expand space and explore the order of the world as we have come to recognize it. — Kim Yoon-hwan
